# Adding a polyhedra source

Hello,

Would it be valuable to add an arbitrary polyhedra source to ParaView? I think it would be a good addition to the existing data sources.

I am surprised there is not already one. It would be nice to add an option to `vtkPlatonicSolidSource` to output either polygon faces (as it currently does) or polyhedra and expose it in ParaView.

I agree that it would be good to have an arbitrary polyhedra source. I’m not sure if it would fit well in `UnstructuredCellTypes` source for arbitrary polyhedra but that is a potential place it could go.

Agreed; if you wanted to extend `UnstructuredCellTypes`, you would need to create polyhedra that support a regular tiling of a rectangular prism.

Thanks. It is now funded. Note, there is lots on Kitware’s plate, this doesn’t mean it will happen soon. We will see.
