Hello!
I am using openSuse Leap 15.1 and paraview 5.6 as rpm from this
and/or paraview 5.7 as rpm from science repo.
All had worked very well in the past.
After a packageupdate from suse it is not working any more… ☹
I deinstall the nvidia-driver from nvidia-repo too, but no success.

The error message is:
Unable to find a valid OpenGL 3.2 or later implementation.

If I ignore it and want to open one paraview existing case, it
crashes.

I do not want to compile it by myself, I want to use the
suse-rpm.

How can I get it work again?

Regards, Astrid

Indeed, you OpenGL version and vendor would be the interesting part.

Thanx, so
glxinfo | grep OpenGL
will be the best choice?

Are it binaries, ready to use for leap 15.1? Or should I have to compile it?
In the past very many difficulties with self compiling. And I have several computers, and compile it on all…
That was the reason in the past, that I chose to prefer the suse rpm.

Perhaps I can figure out now the reason for not running: to flip back from 5.7 from science repo I reinstall only paraview 5.6 from suse repo. This still keeps the error.
But if I flip back allll packages which had come from science repo
back to suse repo, now it seems running again. 🙂

I had something similar quite a while ago, it was unrelated to ParaView, but a kernel mismatch in nvidia drivers. ParaView just happened to be the only thing triggering it though, which lead to the wrong conclusion.

On the other side, had issues with paraview-5.7 from the science repo. It wouldn’t load due to libhdf5. Seems to have been a mismatch with the libhdf5 still coming from the leap15.1 repo instead of the science repo.

Thanx for information.

Very confusing with the different packages and repos…

I am happy, that is running (only local… ☹ ) again now.

Yes, they are binaries we are distributing, to be used anywhere.
