# Cannot open XDMF files

Hello Mathieu,  
I also have problem reading .h5 file using ParaView and my software only generate .vtp file and .h5 file after calculation. I don’t have the right reader to open h5. file.

You generally need a .xdmf file to open .h5 files

This is quite helpful. Are there any 3-D examples so that I may solve the problem quicker?
