# Change number of legend ticks

Hi,
I would like to format and export this legend:
I want the ticks (and their labels) to correspond to the color discretisation (done in the color map editor).
How can I do that ?
I only found a way to manually set the ticks but I could not opt for such option because I need to mass produce snapshots.
On a side note: I am also interested if somebody has a trick for outputting the legend only, in a quick manner.

Sorry, this currently cannot be done. A feature request is already in place, here: [https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/17641](https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/17641).

If there is a way to modify the distribution of these ticks via python, I could tinker some sort of solution… Any thought?
