I have several vts files containing data which I am able to visualize as surfaces in ParaView. Afaik these are structured data although some doubt is eligible as stated in the discussion [ParaView Support Sep 14](https://www.paraview.org/pipermail/paraview/2014-September/032110.html). Unfortunately, I can not use information from [VTK Data Model](https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView/Users_Guide/VTK_Data_Model) to verify as this page seems not to exist anymore.

However, I’d like to export these data as planes which can be read by a 3D modeling software, e.g. SKUA-GOCAD. This is the same question as in [Public Kitware Dec 16](https://public.kitware.com/pipermail/paraview/2016-December/038814.html), unfortunately, I am not able to derive a usable workflow from that discussion. Is there a general approach, e.g. a filter, to produce planes for 3D modeling software from data which are shown as surfaces in ParaView?
