I wish to plot some histogram of data in a HDF5 file in ParaView. Is XDMF the way to achieve that ? Is it an overkill for simple histogram plots ?

My data looks like this and I am interested in the histogram plotting the “euclidean\_areas” and “uv\_areas” float array.

```auto
HDF5 "squab.h5" {
GROUP "/" {
   ATTRIBUTE "SHA1" {
      DATATYPE H5T_STRING {
         STRSIZE H5T_VARIABLE;
         STRPAD H5T_STR_NULLTERM;
         CSET H5T_CSET_ASCII;
         CTYPE H5T_C_S1;
      }
      DATASPACE SCALAR
   }
   ATTRIBUTE "filepath" {
      DATATYPE H5T_STRING {
         STRSIZE H5T_VARIABLE;
         STRPAD H5T_STR_NULLTERM;
         CSET H5T_CSET_ASCII;
         CTYPE H5T_C_S1;
      }
      DATASPACE SCALAR
   }
   GROUP "PolyMesh" {
      GROUP "gabc" {
         GROUP "gabc" {
            DATASET "euclidean_areas" {
               DATATYPE H5T_IEEE_F32LE
               DATASPACE SIMPLE { ( 20421 ) / ( 20421 ) }
            }
            DATASET "uv_areas" {
               DATATYPE H5T_IEEE_F32LE
               DATASPACE SIMPLE { ( 20421 ) / ( 20421 ) }
            }
            DATASET "zero_uv_areas" {
               DATATYPE H5T_STD_I32LE
               DATASPACE SIMPLE { ( 7209 ) / ( 7209 ) }
            }
         }
      }
   }
}
}
```
