# How to generate a paraview reader for lammps?

Hello everyone,

My first time using paraview. I’m trying to visualize lammps and struggling to generate files that paraview can read.  
I learned that i need to generate a vtk file ([https://lammps.sandia.gov/doc/Section\_packages.html?highlight=voro#user-vtk-package](https://lammps.sandia.gov/doc/Section_packages.html?highlight=voro#user-vtk-package)) but wasn’t successful in that.

Any help or tips is appreciated it or if they is any article or example that i can use.

Can you get a csv out of lammps that contains the particle positions and state? The [dump command](https://lammps.sandia.gov/doc/dump_vtk.html) seems dedicated to that purpose. It will have enough information in it that you can get it into ParaView and display/process it. The log file you’ve shared is a summary which lacks enough detail for ParaView to ingest.
