# How to select the same section of data on two different models

Hi all, I have multiple modles I have created (in xdmf format) that are all in the same coorindates etc, just with different forcing conditions.

My goal is to select a specfic area within the model and compare this area between the different models. I have used the select points tool and retrieved the values I want from the spreadsheet. However I want to know if it is possible to select the exact same area on my other models (same coordinates and map points)?

I am wanting to directly compare these specific areas between the models for accurate results. Any tips on how to achieve this?

To extract value from the same geometric area, you can

- Select in a first dataset
- `Extract Selection`
- Open a new dataset
- `Resample With Dataset`, using the `Extract Selection` as destination mesh
