# Installing paraview separtaely for use with OpenFoam

Hi There,

I have windows as my main operating system and with a Virtual Machine i have installed Ubuntu 18.04 and i have installed OpenFoam7 and it is working fine but i cannot seem to install Paraview. I am trying to now compile it. When i enable ffmpeg and configure i get the following errror after using cmake: CMake Error at VTK/CMake/vtkModule.cmake:3652 (message):  
Could not find the FFMPEG external dependency.  
Call Stack (most recent call first):  
VTK/IO/FFMPEG/CMakeLists.txt:1 (vtk\_module\_find\_package)

This is not withstanding the fact that i have installed ffmpeg. The same is done for python, when it is enabled. How do i specify the correct path for cmake to be able to locate fffpeg, in case that is the issue?

@james.willie : Just install ParaView for windows and you will be fine (and much more efficient) :
