# Is it possible change material properties?

I am relatively new to ParaView and wondered if it is possible to change material properties, like the density of a material or the dielectric constants or something like that. Thank you in advance!

Isn’t that just for rendering (visual) properties of materials ? The OP mentioned density and dielectric constants so physical properties used for computations.

Yes, in the context of ParaView’s rendering, materials do indeed refer to visual properties. @user2 if you are looking to modify physical properties, that would need to be done in your preprocessor or input file for your simulation code.
