# Is ParaView compatible with SMP + MPI

Hi all,
I wanted to ask if someone knows whether it’s possible to run ParaView with SMP and MPI at the same time. I only found the following issue [https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/17519](https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/17519) regarding the use of SMP + MPI in ParaView.

Not really, just wanted to check whether ParaView’s infrastructure can handle both MPI and SMP threading when running a filter that is applied to a MPI-distributed dataset. The answer seems to be Yes, so thanks!
