# OpenGL in VMWare with Windows guest

PV only needs OpenGL 3.2 Core so we should be fine based on the vmware article. I would also suggest looking at

[https://www.mesa3d.org/vmware-guest.html](https://www.mesa3d.org/vmware-guest.html)

to make sure your system has everything it needs for the 3.3 Core OpenGL support. The fact that PV is reporting a 3.3 Core context is good news in that it _ **seems** _ to be doing the right thing. Freezing/crashing sounds like a underlying driver issue in vmware or the underlying hardware driver. You could try updating that as well.
