Hello,

I am trying to build paraview 5.8 with [MSMPI 10.12](https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=100593) , but cmake throws the errors:

> Could NOT find MPI\_C (missing: MPI\_C\_LIB\_NAMES MPI\_C\_WORKS)
> Could NOT find MPI (missing: MPI\_C\_FOUND C)
> CMake Error at VTK/CMake/vtkModule.cmake:4111 (message):
> Could not find the MPI external dependency.
> Call Stack (most recent call first):
> VTK/CMake/vtkModule.cmake:4634 (vtk\_module\_find\_package)
> VTK/Utilities/MPI/CMakeLists.txt:1 (vtk\_module\_third\_party\_external)

I followed this [guide](https://www.paraview.org/Wiki/ParaView/VRPN_with_MS-MPI) and set the The MPI\_C\_\* to:

MPI\_C\_COMPILER : C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\MPI\Lib\x64\msmpi.lib
MPI\_C\_HEADER\_DIR: C:\Program Files (x86)\Microsoft SDKs\MPI\Include

but still getting the error.

Any thoughts ?

Thank you in advance.

Hi,

I was digging into the cmake code and then I found my problem is related to the this post:

Ok, solved it.
the variable MPI\_C\_LIB\_NAMES has to be assigned with the value (in windows) : msmip
