# Praview 5.9 not working with NetCDF-CF files

Paraview 5.9 version has many variables/data fields missing for netCDF4-CF compliant files. however the same file 5.8.1 displays these variables. Is this a bug or has support for netCDF4 being discontinued?

This appears to be a [bug](https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/20042) in 5.9 that is [fixed](https://gitlab.kitware.com/vtk/vtk/-/merge_requests/7550) in 5.9.1. It is mentioned in the release notes [here](https://blog.kitware.com/paraview-5-9-1-release-notes/).
