# Preparing volumetric data for parallel rendering

Hi

When preparing (volume) data for use in parallel rendering via pvti files  
do we need to know ahead the number of GPU workstations we will have  
or does the meta data in pvti allows Paraview/pvserver to (re)partition  
as required when it is loading up the data ?

Do we need to match the Pieces count with the MPI Rank ?
