Hi everyone,
It seems that Paraview’s ray-tracing capabilities on the newer MacBooks only utilise the CPU without leveraging the hardware-accelerated ray-tracing capabilities of the newer chips. Is there a plan to enable hardware acceleration on Apple’s ARM chips or to enable Metal acceleration for ray tracing on Macs?
Thanks a lot
Alexandre

The current raytracing implementation you are using is Intel OSPray, which is now considered legacy and will not be ported to GPU.

A new raytracing implementation, Anari, is currently being integrated in VTK/ParaView: [Advancing Scientific Visualization: Highlights from the ANARI Virtual Hackathon 2025](https://www.khronos.org/blog/advancing-scientific-visualization-highlights-from-the-anari-virtual-hackathon-2025)
