# Release using Python3

Hi paraview developers,
I need to use a python3 module with paraview simple.
I could build Paraview using Python3 but was wondering if future releases were planning on switching to Python3?

Yes, there’s plan to switch to Python 3 for building our binaries. It won’t happen for 5.6 for sure, but it is a possibility for the spring or fall release next year.

Hello,
I’ve been wondering about this myself.
Any update on this? I think I saw somewhere else that 5.7 is slated for early June release.
Will builds use Python 3 at that point?

I am afraid not. Given how busy things have been with other build system related changes, this won’t happen for 5.7.
