Hi all,

I recently started having issues with running paraview in WSL.
I tried reinstalling WSL, reinstalling paraview but I still have this segmentation error when running a [script](https://github.com/RemDelaporteMathurin/FESTIM-review/blob/main/comparison/comsol/visualisation_cm.py).

I would like to note that everything [works fine in GitHub actions](https://github.com/RemDelaporteMathurin/FESTIM-review/blob/3b4cc87d5222ca671ef02c3b847d9f8ef16036fd/.github/workflows/run_cases.yml#L115-L128) so it’s likely related to my machine.

Do you have any pointers to what the issue may be?

EDIT:

Actually it is not [_not_ working in GitHub actions](https://github.com/RemDelaporteMathurin/FESTIM-review/actions/runs/7995499707/job/21835979236?pr=34) even though neither the script/the data/the paraview version have changed…

Update after a bit of investigation:

I have re-run a [Github Actions workflow that was successful last week](https://github.com/RemDelaporteMathurin/FESTIM-review/actions/runs/7917838045/job/21614858400).
The same workflow is [now failing](https://github.com/RemDelaporteMathurin/FESTIM-review/actions/runs/7917838045/job/21837467493).

The only difference I could find is the OS version:

 ![image](https://discourse.paraview.org/uploads/default/original/2X/5/56910bf6fc06f33f355f93bfa5ec51c41f1db7a0.png)

Could it be that by any chance the Paraview-5.11.2-osmesa-MPI-Linux-Python3.9-x86\_64 is not compatible with Ubuntu 22.04.4?

This looks like **exactly** this issue, [https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/22350](https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/22350)

Could you confirm Adrien diagnostic regarding different libc versions ?

Indeed it looks identical!. Although this issue was opened 3 months ago and I only started seeing this a few weeks ago on my machine and this week on the GitHub actions runners

ArchLinux is ahead of Ubuntu. Could you check the libc version in your cases ?

I have a maybe similar issue locally where I tried installing paraview with the following

```bash
conda create -n paraview
conda activate paraview
conda install -c conda-forge paraview
```

When running

```auto
paraview
```

I get:

```bash
The issue comes from the Glibc 2.35 package version of apt (which was recently updated on ubuntu 22.04 LTS).
Docker image ubuntu:latest (aka ubuntu:22.04) has that Glibc uncompatible version, so while it’s not fixed the best workaround would be to use ubuntu:20.04. It uses Glibc 2.31 and is not affected by that segmentation fault.
Thanks! Do you know if this issue is also causing the SIGABRT signal error I had with conda?
The version of ubuntu was 22.04.03
Ubuntu version is not important. Type in your terminal
```auto
/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/libc.so.6

```
If it says version \>= 2.35 then yes, your issue is the same. If not, I don’t really know what could cause it.
Indeed, it is version 2.35 which would explain the bug.
Thank you very much! Is there an issue opened to track the progress on this?
