# Select an edge and plot data on this edge

How to select a specific edge and plot some values as XY diagram?  
Im working with Gmsh and Elmer as preprocessor and solver. Do I have to define the line in Gmsh first as a data set or something like that to be able to plot field values in Paraview later on? Any suggestions? Thx
