# Stream tracer filter unavailable even with vector field data

Hello, I have a simple lid driven velocity field Exodus file with `vel_x` and `vel_y` point data variables. Paraview seems to recognize them as a `vel` vector with X and Y components and also provides the magnitude. However, stream tracer and all other vector-based filters remain grayed out.
I’m currently using ParaView 5.11.1 for Windows.

You need to add the z component to the vector in the `Calculator` filter.
