I have compiled Paraview by putting set(BUILD\_SHARED\_LIBS ON CACHE BOOL “”) in cmake and using export CRAYPE\_LINK\_TYPE=dynamic enabling Paraview to work with shared libraries on Cray XC40 (SahasraT). But does this configuration significantly affect Paraview’s performance on Cray?

It may depending on filesystem performance. You may set `PARAVIEW_BUILD_WITH_KITS` (it used to be called `PARAVIEW_ENABLE_KITS` if you’re using an older version) to make ParaView group its libraries into fewer on-disk artifacts to reduce the number of filesystem calls you’ll need.
