# vtkPythonSelector (0x55f2f1af8bf0): Failed to import 'paraview.python\_selector'

i get this error on my machine when trying to use the “Find Data” functionality.

"_Warning: In /build/paraview-SVeOv3/paraview-5.7.0/ParaViewCore/ClientServerCore/Core/vtkPythonSelector.cxx, line 56_

_vtkPythonSelector (0x55f2f1af8bf0): Failed to import ‘paraview.python\_selector’_

_ModuleNotFoundError: No module named ‘paraview’_  
"  
The following appears in the command window i launched paraview:

"( 52.647s) [paraview] vtkPythonSelector.cxx:56 WARN| vtkPythonSelector (0x55f2f1af8bf0): Failed to import ‘paraview.python\_selector’  
ModuleNotFoundError: No module named ‘paraview’  
"

System information: Ubuntu 20.10, Paraview 5.7.0, Qt 5.14.2, 64 bits. I loaded Paraview and Python as apt packages.

i can provide more details if necessary. T

no i don’t get the same error when i run the executable in 5.9.1 tar.gz

Then this is an issue for the ubuntu packagers, not a ParaView issue.
