Here is a visual explanation:

Source/Filter are the pipeline browser.  
Views are the views you see in the middle.  
Representations are the display of a data output of a source/filter in a view.

What essentialy each part does?

View sets up Qt widgets + VTK rendering, while representations truncate data?
