5.8 state file loaded into 5.8.1 and I’m not seeing the raytrace materials selection anymore.

The Material property is in the same section in 5.8.1 (under the Ray Tracing section) as it was under 5.8.0. You can search for “material” in the property search bar at the top - maybe you weren’t showing advanced properties and that’s why it wasn’t appearing in the properties panel?
From 5.8.0, I saved out a state file with an object set to the copper material and loaded the state file in 5.8.1 and it worked as expected.
