Adding a polyhedra source

Hello,

Would it be valuable to add an arbitrary polyhedra source to ParaView? I think it would be a good addition to the existing data sources.

I am surprised there is not already one. It would be nice to add an option to vtkPlatonicSolidSource to output either polygon faces (as it currently does) or polyhedra and expose it in ParaView.

I agree that it would be good to have an arbitrary polyhedra source. I’m not sure if it would fit well in UnstructuredCellTypes source for arbitrary polyhedra but that is a potential place it could go.

Agreed; if you wanted to extend UnstructuredCellTypes, you would need to create polyhedra that support a regular tiling of a rectangular prism.

Thanks. It is now funded. Note, there is lots on Kitware’s plate, this doesn’t mean it will happen soon. We will see.
