I am not an expert in in situ, but with regards to general ParaView, the ghost cell generator does not work on multiblock datasets. The feature request to change this is here: https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues/19989. Note that multiblock itself is actually going away, as discussed here: Deprecating MultiBlock datasets.
