When the documentation mentions the environment variables, do they refer to the variables that you set in cmake-gui when building the paraview-superbuild?
Example, If I want to have more information for debugging purpose should I do this?
Or do they refer to the computer environment variables?
All these variable, as their name indicate, are environments variables and have noting to do with cmake.
