Hardware Support for Paraview Client on Windows Guest

We would like to use the Windows Paraview Client to view simulations rendered remotely on a Linux cluster. The client is installed in a VMWare guest Windows 10 instance. The guest display adapter is reported in Device Manager as “VMware SVGA 3D”. The sysadmin of the host says there’s no GPU.

The client errors out with “OpenGL support inadequate! Your OpenGL drivers don’t support required OpenGL features for basic rendering”. So do we need to install the client on a system with hardware support or is there some workaround?

openglError

Ok, but why using virtualization here ?

is there some workaround?

As you guessed, your GPU capabilities are not enough. You can use mesa though.
With ParaView 5.7/5.8, that would be paraview-mesa paraview
