How do I use the docker image of paraview

I would like to run the docker image of paarview on my ubuntu machine instead of installing paraview.

My reason for doing this is the latest version of paraview (5.10) does not run my psvm files (needs 5.5/5.6). I am running ubuntu 22.04 and when I install paraview I always get the latest version.

This made me think, lets just use docker, that way it is contained. But I am not sure how to run paraview once I pull the image.

Any help?

Hi @fieldofnodes

ParaView is not distributed as a docker image yet, so I’m not sure what you are refering to.

My reason for doing this is the latest version of paraview (5.10) does not run my psvm files (needs 5.5/5.6).

Old state files should work with recent version, this is a bug that should be reported on https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/-/issues

Just download the tarbal from https://www.paraview.org/download/
