MPI version superior

I am new to Paraview.
When I download the binary files from the site, I see MPI versions.
Basically, I believe that the MPI version is superior and no reason not to use the MPI version.
Would you show me what kind of examples no-MPI versions are superior to the MPI version.

MPI version on Windows require the instalation of Microsoft MPI, which is a reason not to use it imo, as it requires administrative rights to install.
