Hi, I’m plotting vector fields, and I find that the opacity mapping function only works if Representation is set to 3D Glyphs; any other entry (like Surface) doesn’t show anything. However, if I turn off opacity mapping, then Surface works fine (and gives better looking arrows). I think I must be misunderstanding what these options are really doing–why does opacity work with one and not the other?
Well, in the color map editor box there is a check box control called “Enable Opacity Mapping for Surfaces”, is that what you mean? The behavior I’m seeing is varying between my different computers (Linux boxes running Alma Linux, all with ParaView 6.1.0 installed). On one machine, ticking this box makes all the arrows disappear; on the other computer, it makes the arrows show opacity as controlled by the transfer function in use. If I switch the glyph from Surface to 3DGlyph then it kind of works but the arrows seem to map differently to the field points. The Surface representation seems preferable–
