Paraview display is completely corrupted with white/grey triangles after a driver update

Ah, indeed. ParaView 6.1 is using OptiX 6.0, which is quite old at this point, and NVIDIA has removed support from it in the 590 series of drivers. To continue using it with ParaView 6.1 and earlier, you’ll be stuck with the 580 driver series.

Starting with ParaView 6.2 (and I think 6.1.1), we will be exposing OptiX is updated to 8. It will serve as a backend to the ANARI interface in ParaView. Usage will be a little bit different in the details, but should feel familiar for the most part.

Hello,

A friend of mine is doing this and now cases are either taking too long to load or arent at all. Did you experience this when rolling back or no?

Hello Jacob. To “fix” the nvidia driver issue, I activated a setting (as described in the work-around) rather than rolling back a version. Paraview mentions some other functionality might not be available (ray-tracing perhaps?) but nothing like a slow-down.

We are working on Linux and don’t seem to have the work around described. We did get paraview to open normally again but now cases are either taking really long to display or not displaying properly

Hi folks,

Just want to share an Nvidia driver version 596.59 (installed via Nvidia driver app) seems to have fixed the issue. It is released today (so an update not a rollback). For some reason, the manufacturer update (I am using Lenovo workstation) hasn’t yet included this version. Good luck
