paraview for image treatment (3D scan, tif format)

Hello,

I have looked a little bit around and did not came up with a conclusive answer for this, therefore I am making a post.
I would like to use paraview to treat my 3D images, i can open the file and do some simple thresholding and cliping etc. nevertheless it is missing image processing filters, from my research, it looks like this would be the ITK library, and at one moment (around the 2000) there was a post asking if it could be interesting for the users to merge the ITK to the VTK library and therefore bring this functionalities to paraview. also I read about making plugings to bring ITK functionalities to paraview?
In the mean time, i found tomviz that is based in paraview and is ‘specialized’ in tomography data, with several imagery tools. this are not available in paraview by default (tar file with binaries), no?

ITK will not be made available in ParaView natively, nor will it be merged with VTK.
You can use Slicer and Tomviz for such computation.

Alternatively, you could write a plugin to make them available for yourself though.
