Paraview for MacBooks running M4

Just got a Mac with an m4 chip and I’m bummed to see that none of the ParaView downloads support Macs with the newer M4 chip and I won’t be able to run ParaView on my Mac.
Are there any plans for a ParaView install that will work on Apple’s new M4 chip. Apologies if this has already been discussed in another thread but a search of “Mac M4” or just “M4” returned no results.

Hi Stacey, ParaView does work on M4 Mac! The website just needs updating. Please download and install the arm64 package - it will work fine.

That’s great news! Specifically, the arm64 package for M3 Macs? Looks like for AppleSilicon I need to select either M1, M2, or M3 so M3 seemed to make the most sense.

This one will work on all Apple Silicon Macs (M1, M2, M3, and M4):
ParaView-5.13.3-MPI-OSX11.0-Python3.10-arm64.dmg

That’s the one I’ll use then. Thanks!

Apple exposing the internal versioning is Apple marketing running the show. Think of it like “Intel Nth gen” rather than a completely different architecture. You never needed to search for generation-specific Intel binaries before; don’t start with ARM64 (for any OS). ARM64 is general-populace-worthy largely because it started doing the same thing. Note that 32-bit ARM is quite sensitive to board/chip combinations and generally needs per-device vetting.
