GPU for Image Processing?

Yes

Multithread?

Yes

Stereo image pairs?

Yes

Surface rendering?

Yes

VR?

Yes

Movie recording

Yes, but the quality is bad. Instead it is better to generate images and create a correctly encoded movie using ffmpeg for example.

Volume xyz/arbitrary cropping

Yes

3D particle tracking

Yes

Can handle datasets larger than RAM capacity?

No

Can run on a computer cluster?

Yes, made for that

what Built-in sripting / macro language used?

Python

User plugins allowed?

Python, C++, XML

Built-in scripting / macro languages?

Python

No idea what you mean :

Shadowing casting?
Ortho slices/block face views
channel specific cropping
Annotation on volume
Mesh display support
Channel specific LUT adjustments
Channel specific opacity
4D Movie Support (xyzt)
3D ROI measurements
Create 3D ROIs based on data

Hi @mwestphal and @zwei2001

The list @zwei2001 made is pretty representative of the features an image analysist in Microscopy needs in a 3D Viewer. I’ve also been trying to find a tool with the exact same feature set.

It looks like ParaView has a ‘clip’ and ‘slice’ tool.

I also need this feature. I’d like to be able to load 2 images of the same sample taken with different instruments. Then manually resize, rotate and transform one to the other. It would also be nice to apply automatic 3D registration and use the 3D view to evaluate the result.
