My problem is that when I export the ‘spreadsheet view’ file from paraview, I notice that the file opened in excel is different from the file seen in paraview. This is very confusing to me. How can I get the column headings along with the file, so that I know, which column standa for which variable.

With regards to spreadsheet views writing .csv files, and File/ Save Data/ csv files, a great deal of work had been done post 5.7.0. Try pulling a nightly build from Kitware? Also, I can’t remember what features are advanced - be sure to see the advanced dialog for .csv files. I.e., click in the little gear top right of the .csv write dialog.
