I am using version 5.10.0-RC1 and it still has the problem of recording selected points with python script.
Here is an old post saying that 5.8 (or earlier) release will fix this bug.
I just tested, exactly as described in the reference bug, and the trace works correctly. Tested 5.10.0, Linux, builtin server.
You may want to add details on what your issue is and how to replicate it.
I just record a python script by selecting cells from GUI. When I try to load this script the selected cell does not appear. But if I make again the trace of the script and select cells by using the query tool it works.
