Win 7 Installation problem

Hello all.
I’m trying to run Paraview 10.1
Downloaded and installed. No problems seen there.
Clicked to run and blammo…
‘The program can’t start because api-ms-win-core-path-l1-1-0.dll is missing from your computer…’
I have searched high and low, and tried multiple fixes. No luck.
A little help please?
Everything else is working fine.
oh, yeah. Win 7 Pro, sp 1. all updated as far as can be.
dual xeon, lots of ram and disc.

Any clue what’s going on?
any and all advice welcome…

Just to be clear, you are trying to run ParaView 5.10.1, not 10.1, right?
If I had to take a wild guess, it would be that you need to update to Windows 10? Alternatively, you could always try running an older version of paraView. Maybe someting like 4.4.1, and if that works, try upgrading to one of the older 5.* versions?

A better solution would be to update Windows.

Windows 7’s end of life was January 2020. Maybe someone will chime in with a solution, but ParaView officially does not support Windows 7.

What version of Python are you running? Python 3.9+ is not supported on Windows 7.

ParaView 5.10.1 comes bundled with Python 3.9. Python 3.9 is not supported on windows 7. I think that’s the problem.

@cory.quammen Perhaps we should indicate the minimum version of windows required on the downloads page in paraview.org

Thank you all for the assistance.
I will look for an older version, like 5.9, which I have run on Win 7.
Current workstation is not worthy of upgrade to Win 10, unfortunately.
Regards,

Or you can build it yourself against an earlier version of Python.
