BACKGROUND:
I'm using paraview 4.3.1 on a windows 7.
And the main purpose is to visualize some XDMF files.
ISSUES:
However, paraview Crashes everytime when I open the XDMF files, except the first time that I just installed the paraview.
I tried to uninstall the paraview, then re-install it. But that helps nothing.
I tried to install some newer version. But all failed, cause newer version can’t be installed on a win7 pc.
MY QUESTION:
Can Someone tell me How to visualize the XDMF files on a win7 PC with paraview?
1: How can I solve the paraview crashing problem?
2: Or Is there any other version of paraview that can stably run on a win7 PC?

Win7 is end of life since January 14, 2020.
Thanks for your reply
It’s true that win7 out of date.
However my school pc keeps using this old-fashion OS.
So, I still want to find some way to figure this problem out.

I’m afraid I have no solution:
XDMF reader has a bug in ParaView 4.3.1
Bug is probably fixed in more recent version of ParaView
You cant install more recent version of ParaView
At this point I would, in prefferable order:
Find another computer or
Boot another OS (eg a small bootable linux on a USB)
Compile recent ParaView (probably will not be succesful)
If you are a student you may want to reach out to a teacher.
Thanks for your reply, again!
I tried to install 5.8.0 on my win7 PC.
It works well, except with XDMF files.
Once I choose a .XMF file, then click the apply button, there pops a little window tell me, “Paraview.exe has stopped working”.
After this, I can do nothing, but close all of them.
Maybe I should compile it from the source code.
At the very first beginning, I just installed the paraview for time-saving.
Anyway, thanks a lot !
By the way, I’m not a student. Right now this period, I’m working at a school, within a project group, such like that.
