5.6.1 patch release coming soon

Hey folks,

We are going to make a patch release, ParaView 5.6.1, in the next couple of days prior to starting the 5.7 release candidate cycle.

The impetus behind 5.6.1 is a bug in the merge blocks filter that comes up often in LANL’s in situ work flows. (https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/issues/18991)

I am gathering up a merge request for this and a handful of other critical/easy bug fixes in gitlab.
(https://gitlab.kitware.com/paraview/paraview/merge_requests/3267). If you have other fixup that you need to see in this release, please let us know.

Depending on how long until 5.7, could we get some of the critical Exodus fixes in 5.6.1?

Mind elaborating? "critical Exodus fixes is pretty vague…

Also, the 5.7 RC1 should be coming out within a few weeks.

That’s fair, I guess specifically the issue with Windows not recognizing certain Exodus files
