currently the Del shortkey is not assigned to anything, a lot of us were quite happy with the addition of Delete downstream Pipeline, it would be nice to have as default shortkey for it the Del key. at least personally i do not use anymore the Delete and always use Delete downstream Pipeline directly.
It looks like Del is already deleting filters without being listed as a proper shortcut, so this should be fixed.
Setting it to Delete Downstream Pipeline is fine and retrocompatible imo.
Wdyt @cory.quammen ?
yeah, thats why i was ‘surprised’ that when i went to configure it (it was not showing as used for Delete). dummy feature request that finish to find a small dummy bug ahaha
It’s not, though. Currently if you press Del when a source has a downstream consumer in the Pipeline Browser nothing happens. This change would delete the source and all downstream filters. In any case, I like the idea of having a default shortcut for Delete Downstream Pipeline. Maybe Ctrl+Del?
well currently it was not declared on the shorkeys. I dont know in other domais, but at least since delete downstream pipeline, i literally fully stoped using single delete. I remember when @Francois_Mazen pressented in OpenFOAM french workshop this new feature, there was so much good reaction to it, of people saying yeah it was so annoying doing delete and nothing happening.
only if you consider that not doing something is an inteded behavior.
That’s the behavior, intended or not ![]()
I would be very slow tying the delete key to multi filter deletes without a “are you sure?” type of prompt. I cuss out iPhone’s ability to call favorites by mistake maybe once a week.
I DO like the idea of a two key shortcut, such as Ctrl+Del. Obviously, if you click that combination, you knew what you were doing.
And put a prompt of are you sure and check box don’t aks again unchecked?
I’d be good with that.
However, I still like Cory’s idea better of Ctrl+Del. Maybe put a tooltip on Del in case someone clicks it, to show the correct command is Ctrl+Del?
Personally I find delete as simply deprecated, and left the behavior for with downstream and with a prompt. I can always configure for my personal use, but I really don’t see anymore the use of it when the option to downstream is there, the number of times I hit deleted by error in paraview is minimal and furthermore, one is rarely working on high levels of the tree so if error occurs one would delete 3 levels? Any case it is just an opinion and personal preference. (also notice that I have problems of unwilling hitting shortcuts in other situations but the del button is so far appart on the keyboard that this never happened to me. But it does happen a lot to go and hit it intentionally and nothing happens and then realize the filter I want to delete has children filters the
