ParaView not working with NVIDIA driver 595

Severe graphical issues in the render view when upgrading to latest 595 NVIDIA driver. Rolled back to 582.16 and both 5.13.3 and 6.1.0-RC1 now work again. Also Optix is not available when using recent driver releases (>582). Running on Lenovo P620 workstation with Windows 11 and RTX A4500.

Another user reports the same. Lets hope NVIDIA fixes this soon.

Has this been reported to NVIDIA? I’m not sure what the mechanism for that might be?

I’m afraid I have no idea how to report a driver issue to NVIDIA.

I reached out to some contacts at NVIDIA to bring their attention to this issue.

Fantastic, thank you Cory!

I don’t know the exact version of 595 you tried, but there appears to be a version released since your initial report:

If you are able, it would be great to know if that version resolves the issue.

Nope, still the same issue I’m afraid:

So, just to be clear, neither 595.71 or 595.97 are working. And I tried them with both 5.13.3 and 6.1.0-RC1:

Thank you for trying this. I submitted a bug to NVIDIA and will update it with the driver version info you provided.

I have also just ā€˜rolled back’ to 582.41, a new driver in the 580 branch and that still works.

Thanks for the info about the drivers that work.

NVIDIA suggests enabling this setting: NVIDIA Control Panel → Mange 3D Settings → Global Preset → Workstation App - Dynamic Streaming

Could you see if that works with the 595 driver?

NVIDIA has confirmation that the workaround resolves the problem, so no need to do this. They want to fix the underlying issue so the workaround is not needed.

NVIDIA reports that the fix for ParaView will be soon available in next R595 GA , scheduled for an April 28 posting.

Fantastic, thanks Cory!

By the way this setting doesn’t show up in either NVIDIA Control Panel, or in their Profile Inspector

I found the ā€œDynamic Streamingā€ here:

and it appears to have fixed the problem

@cory.quammen I just wanted to conform that NVIDIA driver 596.36 has fixed the graphical glitches, but OPTIX is no longer available in the list of Ray Tracing Back Ends. I will therefore still have to use the 580 branch. (Using the Dynamic Streaming workaround made no difference to the availability of OPTIX)

I am seeing this issue in Ubuntu 26.04 using NVIDIA 595.58 driver installed from Index of /compute/cuda/repos/ubuntu2604/x86_64 … Xfce– I don’t see an updated driver available (yet) today – is one expected for Linux / ubuntu 26.04?

Just stumbled across this issue as well. Optix option is still missing in ParaView 6.1, Win 11, driver version 596.49 which was just released today.
