Transforming results to user-defined (local) coordinate systems


for finite element analyses it’s often very important to be able to transform the results (mainly stress, strain or displacement components) to user-defined (local) coordinate systems - rectangular, cylindrical or even spherical. This can be especially useful when parts such as pipes or pressure vessels are analyzed - then it’s often necessary to transform the results to cylindrical coordinate system. But there are also cases when user-defined rectangular coordinate system is needed. For example, the analysis of welds may require the transformation of stress components to coordinate system aligned with a face of the weld.

In this topic there was a discussion about the transformation of results to cylindrical coordinates and the conclusion was that it’s not possible at the moment:

It would be great if such an option could be implemented in ParaView.
